This Privacy Policy explains what information OpenList (openlistapp.com, "OpenList," "we," "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using OpenList, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, including:

• Account information: email address, phone number, display name, and password
• Listing information: titles, descriptions, prices, categories, and photos you upload
• Location: a ZIP code or city you enter, or the location your browser shares if you use the location button — used to show listings near you
• Messages and content you send to other users through the platform

We also collect some information automatically:

• Usage data, such as pages viewed and searches performed
• Cookies for language preference (ol_lang) and location (ol_loc), which let the site remember your settings between visits

2. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

• Operate the marketplace — create your account, publish your listings, and show you listings relevant to your location and searches
• Communicate with you about your account, listings, or messages from other users
• Maintain the security of the platform and prevent fraud or abuse
• Improve OpenList based on how it's used

3. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run the service:

• With other users, to the extent your listing or profile is public (for example, your display name and any contact details you choose to show)
• With service providers who help us operate OpenList, including Supabase (database and authentication), Cloudflare (photo storage), and Vercel (hosting)
• With Google AdSense, which may serve ads on OpenList and use cookies for that purpose
• When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of OpenList or our users

4. Data retention

We keep account and listing information for as long as your account is active. If you delete a listing or your account, we remove it from public view and delete it from our active systems within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain information to comply with the law or resolve disputes.

5. Your choices

You can review and update your account information at any time from your account settings. You can control location sharing through your browser settings, and clear the ol_lang/ol_loc cookies through your browser. You may request that we delete your account by contacting us as described below.

6. Children's privacy

OpenList is not intended for anyone under 18, consistent with our Terms of Service, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
